Science Week

STEM Activity
During Science Week we began our ongoing STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) project. The problem we are working on is how can people make a pair of shoes from found materials in a refugee camp.
We conducted surveys and made tables and graphs to determine what features of shoes everyone thinks is most important. Comfort was high on the list.
Next, we will be investigating the properties of materials that might be found in a refugee camp that could be used to make shoes.

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz Room 8 Performers

We are very proud of our Wizard of Oz Room 8 acting team. They are very keen and enthusiastic and have given up many lunch times to attend rehearsals. We are really looking forward to seeing them perform in a couple of weeks time!

NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week in Room 8
Report by Eve
Do you know what NAIDOC stands for? Let me tell you, it  means National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is very important because we are acknowledging the Aboriginal culture.
One of the activities we did during NAIDOC Week was making boomerangs with Miss Martin. We drew Aboriginal symbols on our boomerangs.
We walked around the school with Miss Ryan and looked for words written in the Noongar language. The word for path is biti.
The Aboriginal culture is very important to Australia. All the activities we did help us to learn and understand more about the Aboriginal way of life.
