Book Week

Book Week 2017

Week 6 saw Room 8 being transported into a variety of characters to celebrate Book Week 2017. The effort the students (and parents) went to was tremendous and it was lovely to parade with our Year One buddies from Room 7. We were all very excited to find out that due to such an amazing effort by the students the whole school was rewarded with some extra recess play time! Take a look at the photos below. Can you name all of the characters?

Wattle Day Walk

Wattle Day Walk

The 1st of September is a very significant day for Wattle Grove Primary School as it is this day in which the nation celebrates 'Wattle Day.' We celebrate Wattle Day because Wattle is our school emblem and our national floral emblem. With this in mind, Room's 8 and 17 decided to create some beautiful Wattle Day cards for the community and embark on a small walk around the school to deliver personalised cards to some very lucky houses. Were you lucky enough to receive a Wattle Day card?

Learning Journeys

Room 8 Learning Journeys

Thank you to all the parents/families who visited Room 8 for our Learning Journey afternoon. The children were very proud and excited to have the opportunity to show off all their fantastic work. We loved hearing the children discuss their learning in such vivid detail. Well done!

Homework

Study Ladder Tasks
New Study Ladder tasks have been set for all students. It would be fantastic to see these tasks being completed during the Term 3 holiday break, after a week's rest of course!
We also encourage all students to grab a good book, find a comfortable spot and spend some quite time  reading each day in the holidays.

Also, no spelling homework will be set for Week 10, as we will be revising all word work covered during Term 3.

Wizard of Oz

Wizard of Oz
We thoroughly enjoyed the Wizard of Oz school performance last Wednesday. A huge congratulations to all the students, Mrs Mcllwraith and staff involved, especially our fantastic Room 8 performers. They did an amazing job and we are very proud of them.

Look at these happy and excited faces after the show!

Faction Carnival

Faction Carnival 2017
Report by Melissa
On the Monday 4th September, we held our Faction Carnival after it had been cancelled due to rain. Everyone was so pumped up and ready to do their best!
We didn't just have running races, we had seven team games as well which included flag relay, tunnel ball, leader ball, circle relay and pass ball. Wheel relay was very exciting and Purple Faction came first.
All the students were tired at the end of the day. I am sure Wattle Grove School has a good chance of winning the Inter school Athletics Carnival next week, after the fantastic performances on Monday.
