Dancing

Dancing

It is that time of the year once again in which we begin preparing for our end of year festivities! The students of Room 8 have begun their dancing lessons with Humphreys Dance Studio. So far we have learnt The Slosh, The Progressive Jive and the beginnings of the Cha-Cha-Cha and a Hip Hop routine! We have been having lots of fun (Miss Martin too) and we cannot wait to show off our skills at the end of the year.

Dioramas

Australian Pioneer Dioramas

We had so much fun making our pioneer/early settler dioramas this week. It was fantastic to see the children being so creative with their ideas and materials. Despite the difficulty of making small shacks and furniture, everyone problem solved together and helped each other out.
We now have an interesting display of pioneer farms, stables, houses, schools, bakeries and shops in Room 8.

Pre-service teacher

Welcome, Miss Grenfell!

Hello!
My name is Correna Grenfell and I am a 3rd year pre-service teacher representing Edith Cowen University. I’m delighted to commence my 5-week practicum with Ms Martin and Mrs Hoskins, and the Year 4/5 students.
A little information about me. I am half German and very enthusiastic about the area of the Arts. I enjoy being creative, both artistically and musically.
I look forward to getting to know your children and am thrilled to have this opportunity to gain valuable experience. If you have any questions or simply want to meet, come in and say hello.

It's on again!
Room 8 will be conducting their Super Scientist presentations in Week 4 this term. The children will be expected to deliver a two to four minute presentation on a science idea/topic not an experiment or a demonstration. They can enhance their presentation with the use of a power point, a poster, or even asking the audience questions.
Students will be assessed on their

  • delivery,
  • content/organisation
  • enthusiasm/audience awareness.

Diorama

Pioneer Dioramas
On Monday 23rd October, Week Three, we will be spending the afternoon creating our Australian pioneer/early settler dioramas. The children have spent time in class on their designs and planning a list of resources that they will need to build their dioramas. They will have access to some supplies from the classroom, but they will have to provide most of the things they need from home e.g, shoe box, fabric, sticks, straw, model animals etc.
We look forward to seeing some fantastic and creative dioramas.
